Post Apples CSA is located in North East, PA.  We supply fresh produce to local food enthusiasts via farmer’s markets, local grocery stores, CSA, and pick your own.  Post Apples Farm is looking to hire part time to full time seasonal help.  Applicants will work under the direction of the farm owners but also will be expected to work under their own initiative.  Project task lists will require independent work at times and working with other employees, volunteers, and owners.  Applicant must possess good people skills and be willing to talk and interact with the public at our farm stand and farmer’s markets.

FARMERS MARKET OPERATOR

The farmers market operator will be in charge of operating our tent at each market.  They will also be required to plan for each market ahead of time.  This will include deciding what products to take and how much of each.  They will also have to pick and prep the vegetables (could include sorting, pre-bagging, or washing), load, and unload the truck.  The markets run from the middle of June to the end of September.

Qualifications –

  1. Valid driver’s license

  2. Able to lift 30 lbs. (crates with apples, squash, etc.)

  3. Able to work with customers - small talk, answer questions & SMILE!

  4. Able to handle money and make change

  5. Some common knowledge about fruits and vegetables & at least the interest to learn   

Description –

  1. Drive box truck or van to market site

  2. Help set up stand with tents, crates of fruit/vegetables, boxes, display stands, signs, etc.

  3. Help with sales, help customers, collecting money from customers.

  4. Restocking displays as soon as possible and keeping track of inventory. You can’t sell something that is not made readily available to the customer.

  5. Help take apart display, load fruit and crates into truck, take down tents and pack up truck when market is over.

  6. After returning back to the farm, you will need to help unload the empty crates, boxes, etc., and put these items away in their designated location.

  7. The trucks leave from the farm between 1 1⁄2 to 2 hours prior to the opening time of the market.

Market Schedule - Markets run from Mid-June through the end of September

  1. Leaf’s Open Market – Saturday – 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm

  2. Little Italy – Monday – 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  3. Bestor Market – Tuesday – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  4. Wic’s Pop Up Market – Friday – TBD, once a month
